Haiku Haiku invite you to an intimate and exclusive theatre performance at the Homecoming Centre in District Six. They will be performing tracks off their debut EP as well as new and unheard music. The set will combine live visuals with their distinctive and dreamy performance style. Haiku Haiku is a musical duo from Cape Town, South Africa. They offer something totally unique to the local scene with their striking visual performance and distinctive sound. Producer and well-versed pop composer, Sean Ross combines his talents with classically trained violinist, Caley Garden. Together they project classical sensibilities onto a digital landscape creating a sound that is broad, yet intricate, enigmatic and uplifting. Their performance combines electronic elements with live string quartet, creating a visually captivating and ethereal atmosphere that is totally unique to the South African scene. They released their debut EP, We Become All We Are in October 2022 and are currently working on new music.

Black Math is a three-piece band originally from Durban, South Africa. The band consists of Tyla Burnett (Bass Guitar), Cameron Lofstrand (Guitar/Vocals) and Acacia Van Wyk (Drums). Forming in 2010, they were friends in high school who shared a deep love for music. Over the years they made a name for themselves in the South African music scene and have grown into the power trio they are today. The music is raw, unforgiving and will hit you when you least expect it. They have developed their own sound that draws from genres like doom, noise rock, garage, psychedelic rock, punk and metal. Their live shows are intense, visceral and intimate.

Hailing from Durban, MOUSE is a groove-filled whirlwind of energy that will lift you off your feet and into the crowd as your mind melts out your ears and onto the floor bellow. Flowing like a river through the genres of doom, psych, jazz, fuzz, punk and funk; MOUSE is primarily an experimental force.

BLACK LUNG is a loud band from CT, blending elements of psych surf garage punk noise, they perform high energy shows to make crowds go mad.

YNDIAN MYNAH is an instrumental band. Their sound can be described as post-rock music with hints of dreamy psychedelia, post-punk and prog-rock that vacillate sounds between explosive edges and nostalgic narratives.

@tbmomusic is a performance art ensemble known for their eclectic live music shows described as "tradition-trouncing trans-Atlantic Afro-centric futuristically ancient fusion." Founded in 2010, the ensemble includes Siyabonga Mthembu on vocals, Zwelizwe Mthembu on guitar, Ayanda Zalekile on bass, Simphiwe Tshabalala on drums, and Mohammed Dawjee on tenor. Having put together exceptional catalogue over the year, their most recent releases over the past 2 years, "Tolika Mtoliki" (2021) and "$/HE WHO FEEDS YOU OWNS YOU" (2022) have been received to exceptional acclaim both here at home and well beyond our borders: an ongoing testament to their longevity and firm place in the lineage of South African musicians who are masterful both in their resistance and exceptional craft.

Hailing from the South-east coast of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa, Wren Hinds grew up with a musician for a father and a landscape painter for a mother. As a kid, watching his dad recording and overdubbing inspired Wren to keep a tape recorder with him, recording whatever and wherever he could. Later, he would compare the layering of instruments and textures to the mediums and paints of his mother’s chosen artform. For Wren, songwriting became “painting with sound”, using light, shade and a sense of space to communicate powerful impressions and feelings.

ASHLEY HILTON & THE STASH BAND

Ashley Hilton Jacobs is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Belhar, Cape Town. He has been on the scene as a bass player for some of the best bands to come out of South Africa He’s played for De Wallen, Son of Hawk and most recently for Afrikaans award-winning rocker and songwriter, Jan Blohm.

He has played at some of the biggest festivals in South Africa like Oppikoppi. He’s also played sets at Alternatief Is Groot & The Bokkies Awards Show. When the lockdown happened and work was non-existent, Ashley did not stop, he decided it was time to start working on his own material. This material had been on ice for years as he was busy touring with other bands and projects as a bassist.

LUUKHANYO is a South African R&B-rapper based in Cape Town.

Driven by his desire to translate emotion and feelings into sound, the rapper flirts with a variety of styles and genres, treating them as colours used to paint vivid images in every song, with his songwriting abilities and vocal delivery being the paint brushes. LUUKHANYO has been nurturing his craft since his early teens, going on to release his first Demo in 2020, after turning 22.

Musicians such as Black Pumas, Kendrick Lamar, Anderson Paak., Free Nationals, Little Simz, Cleo Soul, Kool and the Gang and more, could be seen as influences to the rapper when taking into account the wide blend of genres that appear in his music. These include funk, hip-hop, R&B, and jazz, to name a few.

Peasant a is a 5-piece metallic hardcore band. After releasing their latest EP kingdom under covid, the band is on a mission to get out and rip across the country with a bunch of new music.
